William Gentry - Deacon, First Baptist Church of Glenarden

"Well you know it's a, it's a relationship, OK, and we at First Baptist, we believe in relationships. I don't like having to, as they say, break in a lot of new people all the time. So when we find a relationship that works, we tend to stick to it.

With HealPay, I never dreamed that a company would be willing to build a platform just for us and that's what HealPay pay has done. Whatever functionality we needed, you came up with it. And it's been working. And we plan to continue that relationship. And then you, on top of that, you were doing a good job, you were very responsive, and then you started given as 1% back.

Giving platforms, it's kind of like counting money. It’s only one way to do it, and that’s to count it. Ok. Giving platforms, there are only so many ways that you can receive donations. So you may have 5 or 6 different players out there, but they're basically all trying to do the same thing. HealPay separated themselves by giving back.

People give to us for a lot of different reasons, and it's important that we track their giving the way they give it. So that they can do what they need to do on their end. But, what we observed is that once we rolled out online electronic giving, we no longer saw seasonal fluctuations like a lot of churches do. People, when they went on vacation, they would give from Disney World, OK. Or, you know, wherever they happened to be. So the church and the church budget did not suffer just because people were not physically in the building.

HealPay came up with custom reporting so that we can pull reports that would show us how everybody's giving, where it's going. And in that way, when people get their reports they're pleased. And that's important because a pleased donor is a consistent donor.

If you build your business around today, then you will soon be out of business. Unfortunately, things change. People don't like change but if you're a business or a ministry, you have to change.

The largest population right now are the millennials. And most millennials don't even have checkbooks, which means that you have to be able to have a system that allows them to give because they wanna give. They’re not going to just give, they wanna give to something. First Baptist Church of Glenarden, we do a lot of things in the community, around the world. But so that the millennials especially, know that they’re giving to a good cause, that their money is gonna do something. It’s not just gonna go to build a new building.

So that's the motivation for us and what we do. And HealPay fits right in with that model. Reoccurring Giving makes it so easy because once they set it up, they no longer have to think about it and with the Recurring Giving that HealPay provides, it works.

Yes, I would recommend HealPay. HealPay has done a great job for us. They have been very responsive. They've been very flexible. They have a platform that meets every giving need so, yes I would recommend HealPay."
